I'll try to improvise P. Kotler's explanation of today's marketing and what it is.
"two girls entering Costa Coffee with two coupons for latte coffee they earned due to 10 buys in the same Costa Coffee shop. While one of the girls is going for drinks the other one is taking out her brand new iPad and connects to the wireless hot spot provided by Telenor for the entire shopping mall. She starts to Google for the music band that worked on soundtrack for the movie she saw last night. She gets a list of websites and two ads - the first one offering a tickets for their next concert and the second one offering an entire CD soundtrack and DVD movie on amazon.com (Ads are of course provided by Googles AdWords service). The girl with two lattes gets back and she can't wait to show her friend a new mobile phone she got from her parents for her 17th birthday - Samsung galaxy S2. They are thrilled about design of device which is a result of work from young designers from Korea and it took several months of research and working with focus groups."
I could go on with sharing with you that this blog is written using my HP Probook and Google owned online blog service Blogger while I listen to the Kings of Leon on youtube (looping) 'cause I saw it posted on facebook by a very special person.. and the list of brands will just get bigger.
So what is marketing? How do you do it? Is it creating demand or discovering new markets? What about medias? How do you think that Internet fits in?
One thing is for sure - we live in a world of brands and social medias (check out this video and feel free to explore http://www.socialnomics.net/). You can't even wake up without a presence of a certain brand (Dormeo pillow for instance or Collgate toothpaste). Android even brought Google's ads in your pocket literally.. What's next!?
So as it comes to this topic there is only one thing that moves me forward - stay hungry, stay foolish (altough you can apply this on pretty much any topic).
